Iskandar Malaysia Eco-Life Challenge 2018

143 schools submitted their electricity bills, 168 schools submitted their water bills and 131 schools submitted the recycling receipts for the school project competition. The total carbon reduction by participating schools in IMELC 2018 is 590,662.64kgCO2 . If the pattern was replicated to all 403 schools, in 1 year 3,600,203.08kgCO2 can be reduced. RM174,925.14 electricity bills and RM32,923.82 water bills were saved and RM58,664.55 was collected from recycling. Therefore, a total of RM266,513.51 was saved and earned by the participating schools in IMELC 2018. If the pattern was replicated to all 403 schools, in a year RM30,505,199.51 can be saved and earned. Therefore, on average, a school can save and earn RM75,695.28 in a year through IMELC.
